My trip in Beijing
This summer I was very lucky that I had a chance to join a trip held by the educational department to Beijing. This was my first trip to Beijing and it enriched me in different aspects.
For one, having a trip to the capital of China which is Beijing enhanced my knowledge about it. It is a prosperous city full of passion and happiness. I am glad that I had a chance to know more about my mother country.
Another worth knowing is the history of China. I visited the Beijing Museum. From these, I learned more about the past and the Chinese culture in the olden days. It influenced our present life style and now we still practise these valuable Chinese traditions.
Moreover, I am amazed at the Great Wall. I wondered how Chinese built the Great Wall. As I walked along it, I felt extremely tired and I found it very steep, so I could just imagine the hardship of the Chinese at that time.
I am happy that I could visit QingHua University. There are beautiful buildings with European style. The students are very nice and I could feel the oriental culture. I think this is really a good place for students to study in such a good environment.
The Palace is another place which inspired me a lot. It is a huge and surpassingly beautiful palace with magnificent architecture. I could imagine the life styles of the kings and queens. This impressed me a lot.
The most interesting part of the trip was the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. It is an international event. I was glad that I could watch the Beach Volleyball and Athletics in the Chaoyang Park and the Beijing national Stadium---the Beijing Bird’s Nest. Everyone cheered and I could feel the exciting atmosphere of this Olympic Games.
Besides the places that I visited, the most remarkable part of this trip is travelled to Beijing by train. My teammates and I experienced the first time to travel by train. We are all very excited. We ate, slept and shared a happy time there. This is the first time that we travelled a long way by ourselves, so we took care of each other, like brothers and sisters. We got to know and understand each other and this is a good chance to enhance social skills.
From this trip, I learned more about Beijing and its people. Besides these, I made friends with the students of other schools. It enhanced my interpersonal skills and understanding. In a word, this trip broadened my horizon and I hope that I can have another chance to visit Beijing again in the future.

Beijing trip
We had our Beijing trip from 11th August to 18th August. From the first day we spent our time on the train, we got a chance to learn from the students of different schools. We felt honoured to arrive at the bird’s nest. All these chances are so valuable and have left an impressive memory to me.
On the day I arrive in Beijing, I remember that there was a feeling of excitement and expectations in my heart. The places we slept in were fabulous. All the places especially the football court impressed me so much because it looked extremely wide.
The next day we went to see the volleyball match. The excitement there was extremely high. All the people were shouting and supporting China. It was so touching because China could finally enter the final match. .
Then we visited Qing Hua University. It looked so gorgeous. It’s design is aesthetically asian. Everywhere we went there was full of grasses and trees with a great lake inside it. It seemed if we could inhale the fresh air every moment. It provides a great environment to the students there.
The most impressive one was the bird’s nest. Everyone wanted to get a chance to enter it. It was really a great honour for me to be able to enter the bird’s nest. I got there at night and it looked extremely beautiful with all the light dazzling outside it. What a splendid architecture it is!!
We also got to the Capital Museum of China. It has been showing the great history of ancient China, the culture of different classes in different centuries and the recent culture of Beijing. I also bought a great map from there. It’s the map of 1936 old Beijing Folklore. This map is very famous, and was drawn by a foreigner, Frank Dorn. He travelled around Beijing during that time and drew how Beijing looked like. So now, we can see all the names on the map written in English.
The old palace is one of the features of China, part of it has been repainted and repaired. It’s really extremely beautiful. The south and northern parts are the palace of the king and his working place, the middle is the room of the queen, the east and western parts one the palace of the other wives of the king. The whole architecture shows how great the ancient China was. Every little part of it is made up of intricate designs which have their own meanings.
Apart from widening our point of view, we also learned to communicate well with other people, I learned that being united is very imported in a social group. All of us left our home and our family at that time, so I realize that helping each other was vital in order to achieve a wonderful trip.
From this trip, I can see how fast China is growing, I dare to say it was the best held Olympic Games ever since. The holding of this Olympic Games in China has proved to everyone that the Chinese has already achieved a crucial position in the world. Most importantly, it has opened a green light for its economic development in the future. As part of China, it’s a feather in our cap to celebrate this great day with all the people in the world.
